Chateau Chinon
The best view of the Nievre town of Chateau Chinon is to be gained from the top of the Calvary viewpoint overlooking the town, at a height of 609 metres.
The town's Mayor from 1959 to 1981 was a certain Francois Mitterand, and he has made a donation to the town of presents received during his presidency of France. The former convent of St Clair holds this startling collection, which resembles rather a junk shop than anything else; stuffed lions rubbing shoulders with portraits of Ronald Reagan and Greek vases.
